Warmth, Humidity And Dead Skin Cells!
That's what dust mites love, and lots of it too! Your bedroom, including your
mattress, curtains, pillows and other fabrics including soft toys are an ideal
breading ground for these tiny critters. Typically most bedrooms are over
heated and under ventilated making a wonderful playground for the dust mite.
It is possible for up to 20% of the weight of an old pillow to be dead skin,
providing an endless supply of food. To make matters even worse the dead
skin you leave in your mattress and pillows etc, that the dust mite live off, is
then excreted by them all over your fabrics, it is this excrement which contains
the mites stomach enzymes which we humans are allergic to, these allergies
include asthma, skin conditions and rhinitis, which in turn can lead to sinusitus
and ear problems. Some symptoms go un-checked as they can simply present
themselves as a blocked, runny or itchy nose, or maybe a tickly cough,
especially when you wake in the morning.
